the Animal Rights Foundation
The Animal Rights Foundation is established in April 2018, in Kosovo, for the purpose of improving the non-human animal welfare, focusing on the legislative aspects of their protection and the dignified promotion of their rights. ARF will contribute to the legal and policy aspects, aiming to improve animal welfare in Kosovo and to improve the human-animal relationship in general. The organization bases its principles to work for all species of animals, regardless of whether they’re stray, companion, farm animals, dedicated for experimental activities, sports or wild animals. All deserve a lawful and ethical treatment.
We focus on our legal engagement by enforcing the proper implementation of the current legislation and by providing concrete suggestions for its improvement, in order to lay strong foundations for the most friendly-based, ethical and bio-centric regulatory framework for animals and their protection. In addition, also to ensure its consistent implementation. Moreover, we also strive to raise public/society awareness in the field of animal rights.

Our vision is a world in which all sentient beings will be respected and treated with justice and compassion.

Our mission is to contribute to the improvement of non-human animal welfare, focusing on the legislative aspects of their protection and the dignified promotion of their rights. Real change will only occur when mandated institutions, people and organizations take structured and systematic action for animal protection in a political, ethical and lawful level.

Partners & direct supporters
Even though ARF is a new organization, it has managed to build good relationships with very serious foreign organizations that work for animal protection for a long time now.
One of our most important partners, who guided, supported and advised the Kosovo team to establish the NGO in first place, was the famous Italian organization LAV (Anti-Vivisezione League) together with ATB – Trentino con il Balcani Association. Members of both organizations are co-founders of the Animal Rights Foundation in Kosovo.
Another strong and important partner which went with ARF through all the professional steps till its proper establishment, was the StrayCoco Foundation based in Switzerland; StrayCoco works to help stray animals with the best veterinarian treatment in some region of Kosovo. They work with willing authorities and private individuals. Their goal is to promote sustainable projects with the local population, veterinarians, volunteers and local animal welfare activists.
The successful foundation Stumme Brüder based in Lichtenstein, trusted our NGO and financially supports ARF for the legal work (lawyer engagement) and for the institutional work in the capacity of partner development on the non-human animal rights empowerment.
Moreover, the TIR foundation (Stiftung für das Tier im Recht) based in Switzerland, has opened its door for potential future cooperation in the field of law changing and revision. ARF also cooperates with serious and professional local NGOs.
