Untreated dogs roaming the streets of Kosovo

January 14, 2019 admin

The “Stray Dog Management and Control” program(CNVR – based on the Administrative Instruction 05/2017) in Kosovo, which was implemented by the Food and Veterinary Agency of Kosovo, was completed in December 2018. If the program does not start again, the stray dog situation will return to the starting point. 14,000 treated dogs (castrated) and reported by the FVAK, will only be considered half a success (or not at all) if the program does not continue IMMEDIATELY.

In Pristina and Prizren, municipalities have contracted companies for casting and sterilization of stray dogs. But other municipalities, not!

straycoco.com – im Einsatz für Strassenhunde, on the other hand, is doing its utmost to aware individuals who have dogs to bring them for spaying; this means, the program of owned dogs sterilization is being funded and implemented in Gjakova (and some villages of Gjakova) and Vushtrri. Soon, in Prizren Municipality the same project, spaying 200 dogs with owners will be implemented by StrayCoco.

We are constantly in touch with the FVAK regarding the next steps of the state-level CNVR (Catch, neuter, vaccinate, release) project – but we still have no accurate information on what will happen next.

For further updates, we will keep you informed!
