Activists throughout Pristina and other cities in Kosovo face many dogs a year, not 5 times, but 5,000 times, in various forms, feeding and caring for them constantly.
However, we do not deny the fact that there are cases of attacks because, it is simple math, the probability of a large population of stray dogs, of the people who hate them and abuse them since they are puppies, and of the situation of littering in the city, means there is a possibility of attacks.
YOU MUST KNOW that attacks occur because:
- People in most cases abuse them and do not love them;
- Have no friendly and peaceful relationship with dogs, that is to say, a majority do not even feed them – so dogs find themselves alone to eat and sometimes see humans as an adversaries or enemy near the garbage bins, not as friends who can help.
BEST SOLUTION?
In addition to the sterilization and vaccination projects mentioned by the persons in this short story, REGISTRATION OF DOGS WITH OWNERS must happen.
Without registering all dogs and their owners, irresponsible citizens will always breed and abandon their dogs; so cities and villages will be filled with dogs that are constantly reproduced on the street.
The Food and Veterinary Agency has not yet started registering dogs with owners (although the law requires it).
Without this program, both dogs and some people will be victims of a state that does not guarantee their safety or welfare.
