The Municipality of Pristina officially published the public tendering of the Temporary Care Center – TCC, in Pristina.
Thank you Komuna e Prishtinës for brining this project more steps forward into its implementation. Stray animals will benefit from this and the society as well.
We are happy and proud for having been involved in this project since its beginning – actually, when we initially were proposing it to the Municipality of Pristina as an idea.
This is indeed the purpose of our organisation, trying to create sustainable and systemic projects in regard to animal protection.
This facility will serve as a clinic. Lawfully it is called as a “Temporary Care Center – TCC”.
It will provide medical treatment for stray animals and their fostering during their recover or cure from a disease.
The TCC IS NOT A SHELTER. I ask everyone not to raise false expectations. Dogs and cats will be on the streets for the time being, but cured, spayed, dewormed, cleaned and vaccinated. Some dogs and cats will stay, if in severe conditions of health, but the others will be again under the responsibility of ours (citizens), on the streets.
Kosovo does not have yet strong financial resources to foster thousands of stray dogs and cats. It would be a chaos trying to put hundreds of dogs in one place.
Anyways, the municipality did their part perfectly! Thanks a lot Shpend Ahmeti Dren Kukaj Ardiana Gjinolli-Ahmeti and Adrian Berisha for your great work!
What still remains for an effective stray animal population management is for the Food and Veterinary Agency of Kosovo to start implementing the legal dispositions that foresee the registration of pets and the punishment of people dumping their pets.
If all the institutions involved for animal protection don’t do their part, then the situation won’t change so easily.
Take an example from the Municipality of Pristina and take action now!
Last but not least, a big thank you for Kosovo Small Animal Welfare and their partner organisation @Straycoco for being as a role model to the creation of the TCC in Pristina and for having accepted us in many visits to their TCC in Gjakova to look up to their work and facility. We took good examples from them!
Not to forget is also the United for Animals – UFA organisation, which was part of the meetings with the Mun. of Pristina and for having been there with their advices as well.
Great work! and let’s give our stray animals the treatment they deserve!
