KFVA launches the project for the treatment of stray dogs through the CNVR method

May 8, 2020 admin

The project for the treatment of stray dogs has started through the CNVR method (capture, neuter, vaccinate, release).

After great insistence and a long wait, the Animal Rights Foundation has been authorized as a civil society organization by KFVA to monitor this project, in terms of animal welfare and their dignified treatment.

Our organization considers this project to be very necessary, but not sufficient for a long-term solution for sustainable alleviation of the stray dog population. If pet owners are not identified and registered as well as animal breeders are not licenced, CNVR projects alone will never be enough to make a long-term solution.

However, the launch of this project should be welcomed, given the great need for such a project. As it is known, in recent months, the number of stray dogs on the streets of Kosovo has increased significantly and the abandonment of dogs continues to be a negative phenomenon in our country.

Our organization calls on all contracted veterinarians to take this job with great professionalism and responsibility, so that this project gives the greatest possible effect on improving the well-being of animals by reducing their reproduction, but also to increase safety and public health.

Our organization is waiting for the publication of the list of all contracted veterinarians for this project, so that citizens have it available for any eventual cooperation in favor of the project.

Anyone wishing to notify for untreated dogs in their neighborhoods will have the opportunity to contact directly the veterinarian responsible for the designated area.

Citizens who have doubts about aggressiveness of a dog should make videos of the dog, or, when calling the veterinary team, stay with them to show the potentially aggressive dog, in order to assess the dog’s potential aggressiveness and take measures in case the animal is a constant danger to citizens.

This project is not intended to kill or kill stray dogs, so avoid calls with cruel tendencies to dogs.
