It is very simple, only serious and professional will by the Food and Veterinary Agency needed.
It does not make sense that only projects for the castration of stray dogs improves the situation of the population of stray dogs in Kosovo.
These steps should be implemented for a more effective and holistic solution of the situation:
- Mandatory registration of all owned dogs;
- Control of PET SHOPS.
- Control of ad hoc and outlawed breeders (many in Kosovo);
- Monitor illegal markets and traders in animal markets and other markets in Kosovo;
- Recommendation or even to set as obligatory the castration / sterilisation of owned dogs – since dog owners usually abandon them and are causing the stray dog problems;
- CNVR state projects for stray dogs, should continue!
